IFR Holding Trainer
The IFR Holding Trainer is a freeware application, where you can practise visualising holdings, and holding entries in front of your computer, costing you absolutely nothing!
Please note that you will need at least Microsoft .NET 2.0 Framework framework installed. This can be obtained for free from: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=0856EACB-4362-4B0D-8EDD-AAB15C5E04F5
Instructions
When you first launch the program, the Heading Indicator and OBI will give you your position relative to a VOR. You are given holding instructions in the text box to the left. It is your task to figure out whether it is going to be a Direct, Teardrop (also called offset), or Parallel entry. Click the appropriate button, and the program will tell you the right answer, and also provide a visual overview.
